Clinic Format for Horsemanship from the Heart™ clinics
(This clinic format is discriptive only of Horsemanship from the Heart™ clinics listed below. Silver Star Stables provides a host site for other clinicians as well and clinic format and price will vary for clinics presented by other clinicians.)
Clinics are held over 2 and a half days. They include 3 hours of theory and discussion with Christa Miremadi on the first day in our heated viewing lounge. On the second day, we start off with a 2 hour group session in which we pin point or choose our area of focus and set our intention around what we'd like to work towards, followed by 1 hour private one-on-one sessions with Christa. While the private one-on-one sessions are happening, partisipants can watch or work in another area with the help of aprentice trainer, Eliya Finkelstein on their chosen area of focus. On the third day we begin again with a 2 hour group session and 1 hour one-on-one's. We end the third day in a group session and discussion that will help to bring clarity to our learning and give each other a chance to share our own perspective. Progress cannot be guaronteed as it is entirely up to horse and rider to recieve the information being taught, however, a new perspective and an alternative to old and inefective patterns will be given and a chance to create a new partnership and relationship with your horse will be available to all partisipants.

Inspired by her dear old mare Carlotta, Christa has developed a bitless system that has helped to reduce the stress and remove resistance in countless horses. The Carlotta Noseband is a gentle and effective bitless design which consists of a wide, flat leather noseband and a knotted leather chinstrap. To learn more about the Carlotta Noseband or to see images and styles available for purchase please visit: www.abitsofter.com
We strongly believe that horses are happier and more willing when they are physically comfortable. We have provided out own school horses with the chance to prove that they will do the job required of them just as well, if not better, bitless. We also encourages those who bring their horses to Silver Star Stables for training to consider allowing their horses to be bitless as well. Traditional bridles with bits of any kind can cause any horse to be just a little more resistant and a little less comfortable as well as causing stress and anxiety in many. Horsemanship, the way we teach it, tries to replace the idea of making a horse co-operate out of the fear of pain with co-operating out of willingness.
"As far as I can see, when given the opportunity to come to an agreement without confrontation, and when your request is presented in a way that they can understand, horses would rather come to a peaceful agreement than fight."
-Christa Miremadi
This is not to say that bits have no place. Our goal is to provide the horse with the clearest, most comfortable direction we can, the path of least resistance so to speak. If a bit happens to be the best way to give clear direction and causes less confusion than the bitless alternative, then we will use a bit. It takes listening to your horse to know which path is right for them. Remember that training is a two way game. Teaching your horse is only half of the battle. It takes two to communicate and i don't mean one to speak and the other to listen.

Horsemanship from the Heart™ considers the nature of the horse during the process of training. It is offered to horses for Starting, Continuing, Confidence Building, Trouble Shooting and more, as well as to the human as an educational art. When a horse is handled in a consistant way, their behavior will reflect their handling. For this reason, Horsemanship from the Heart™ is designed for both horse and owner. We are focused toward building relationships, opening the lines of compassionate communication between humans and their equines.
Horses come equipt with a set of rules and instincts that are vital to being a horse. Trying not to train these out of the horse but rather work with them, understand them and cater to them, Horsemanship from the Heart™ students learn what is most importand to the horse in order to find each individal horses most efficient rout to success. Keeping play, leadership, flexability, compassion and a balance of the 4 natural elements in mind, Horsemanship from the Heart™ works together with people and their horses to open up the lines of compassionate communication, allowing for a deeper relationship, stronger trust and an undeniable bond. We do not teach our horses to accept what we want them to -- we allow our horses to teach us the best path to success and provide confidence while expanding our horse's understanding of whatever it is we are working towards, whether it be starting, continuing, confidence building or troubleshooting. We are always careful to be respectful and conscious of the horse's experience and not just our own, throughout the processes of training and learning

Silver Star Stables is home to three exceptional trainers. All three trainers have one very important thing in common: for all, the horse comes first. It is important to Silver Star Stables to maintain the dignity and well-being of the horses as a first priority, so all training done at Silver Star will be gentle, considerate and consistent, and the qualities listed above will all be used and created throughout each horse's learning process. Our goal is to provide each horse and human combination who chooses to make Silver Star their place of learning with a comfortable, non judgmental and supportive atmosphere in which to develop confidence in a solid foundation and rewarding relationship. Our three trainers, named below, all possess the qualities listed above. Each name is linked to a page that will introduce you to that trainer.
This year we have a special guest clinician on May 15 and 16, Daryl Gibb!
